How to promote yourself online? Stategies for marketing your work.

In my last post I wrote briefly, how to earn money on your passion. In this post. I will highlight, what are the possibilities, which I was or will be using according to the medium, you are thinking about using.

You are never really sure, how people might find you. There are many online platforms ranging from Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Vimeo up to LinkedIn. My suggestion is to try a few, not all of them, and see, what works best for you.

Before you send any your content anywhere, be aware of the terms of usage of platform, you are using. For instance, there are sites, where if you post anything, it is owned by the site itself. Check the conditions in advance!

If you want to sell your ideas, people need to know, you know your domain really well. A good way, how to express your skills, is to write articles. Do you know a lot about schooling kids? You are an expert in international relationships? Do you have great tips, how to learn quickly languages? Anything can go here.

You can start with your blog, then you might move to a dedicated forum, after that you might ask an online journal or magazine, if they might post your articles. The pinnacle in this strategy is to publish a book. You can publish it yourself, but there is a large danger, it might not be a success, if you don’t have a big publisher pushing your book to stores.

If the medium of your choice is picture, be it photos, sketch or painting, you can post your creation to social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Google+, Snapchat, etc. Keep in mind, you are building your own portfolio on a given place.

Then you can share your work and skills on a video. If you are handy craftsman, great cook, amazing teacher, you can record yourself and put the video on Facebook or YouTube. These two platforms are easy to set up and have plenty of audience.
